Local match officials Connor Johnston and Davis Whitney are currently officiating at the Westfield National Youth Championships for Boys, which is being held at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium in Coffs Harbour from Monday 25th September – Friday 29th September.

Connor and Davis are joining only two other match officials from within Northern NSW to officiate at the tournament, with match officials from around Australia selected by FFA to officiate at this event, which is FFA’s primary National football competition for the 13 and 14 year boys.

For match officials, attendance at the five day event includes officiating on matches involving Australia’s best young male footballers. During the week, they receive premier coaching and feedback from current A-League and World Cup match officials and also from Australia’s best referee coaches and assessors, to help them continue their development.

In the lead-up to this National tournament, Connor and Davis had to pass a fitness test and they received coaching and feedback by local assessors, while regularly officiating on matches in the FFNC zone and also in Newcastle.

Connor and Davis’ selection for this event is further evidence that pathways exist for FFNC match officials and we look forward to continuing to progress the development opportunities that exist for local match officials, both male and female.

Congratulations to Connor and Davis on their selection for this tournament!
