Italo Stars Football Club has announced that it will convene a Charity Golf Day that will be held at Lismore Golf Club on Sunday 4th February 2018.

Italo Stars FC club president Warren Walker announced that the outstanding local organisation Our House will be the beneficiary of funds raised, saying that his members were enthusiastic about creating an annual event that would be fun but more importantly help people in need. Local legal firm Somerville Laundry Lomax has come on board as the major sponsor and expectations are high that spots for the potential 30 teams, each consisting of four players, will fill quickly

“2017 has been a challenging year.” Mr Walker said. “The flood back in late March caused a lot of damage around the club facilities and like many about town, it will take a while to rebound and get back on track. We also got news about several former team-mates having to deal with the effects of cancer and this stuff prompts a fair bit of reflection.” Walker added.

Our House provides accommodation and facilities for short term amenities for individuals and families impacted by cancer and treatment available at Lismore Base Hospital. Our House Director Rebekah Battista applauded the concept of the Charity Golf Day saying, “Our community continues to rise to the occasion despite the many requests made upon it and I am thrilled that Italo Stars and the soccer fraternity want to align themselves for this cause.”

Nominations for the golf day can be made by contacting Warren Walker at italostars@ffnc.net.au or 0438 221 995. Cost is $25 per player and sponsors are welcome at $200 each. Football Far North Coast is delighted to support the event and encourages all clubs to get involved. Great incentives will be on offer for golfers, with a major raffle prize to lure valuable funds and participation, guaranteeing that a fun day of golf will help so many who benefit from the existence of Our House.
