Wednesday afternoon saw the end of the 2018 Telstra Boys Identification (ID) Camp, for Under 12 and 13 Country Northern New South Wales (NNSW) players, held at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility (LMRFF) in Speers Point.
The camp ran for four days and included 49 selected players from across regional Northern NSW. It is an opportunity to get players together for intensive training sessions, with the possibility of selection into Country Squads for future tournaments and events in 2018.
Northern NSW Football’s Technical Director, Michael Browne, was overall satisfied with the boys’ performances across the 4 days.
“The boys conducted themselves exceptionally well both on and off the field and I am sure they all had an enjoyable experience,” Browne said.
The Under 12’s players have the opportunity to be selected into a Country squad who will participate in a new High Performance Tournament at the LMRFF in April.
Selected players within the Under 13’s will take part in another camp in April (along with selected players within the Under 13 Talent Support Program) and will trial for selection in the 13 Years Country Squad for the National Youth Championships. The Talent Support Program (TSP) is an initiative of FFA currently being implemented throughout Australia – it is a development program for selected players from National Premier Leagues (NPL) teams.
Commencing next Wednesday 24th January will be the Telstra Youth Identification Camp – this camp is for selected Under 14 Country and selected Under 14 TSP players, and will also be held at the LMRFF. These players will have the opportunity for selection in the 14 Years Country Squad at the National Youth Championships, and also an Under 14s Tournament in Tokyo.
The Tokyo U14 International Youth Football Tournament will take place in early May 2018. The National Youth Championships for Boys will be held on Monday 24 to Friday 28 September in Coffs Harbour.
