The 2022 FFNC Annual Match Officials Seminar was held in Goonellabah on Sunday 13th February with over 50 local match officials attending.
The annual seminar brings match officials together as a group to provide coaching, instruction and support in preparation for the upcoming season. This year, Northern NSW Football Referee Education & Development Coordinator, Riley Kirkaldy was in attendance to provide coaching presentations to match officials with a focus on the updates to the Laws of the Game. FFNC Match Officials Development Officer, Anthony Smith, also provided presentations to the group and oversaw activities to ensure that match officials are well prepared for the upcoming season.
Match Officials play a vital role in the game and there is a need for 150 match officials to pick up a whistle this season in order to cover the high number of fixtures across the zone. More match officials are still required however, with a shortage of adult match officials in areas across the zone, particularly in the coastal regions of Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and Ocean Shores.
A level 4 new referees course is being held at Ewingsdale (Cavanbah Centre) on Saturday 19th March. To register for the course click here.
