Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) congratulates this month’s Newcastle Permanent Community Award Monthly Winners in Football Far North Coast for August.
The awards recognise the hard work and significant time volunteers, coaches and match officials contribute to Australia’s largest team sport.
NNSWF Senior Officer Community Football Ross Hicks said the Newcastle Permanent Community Awards provide an important opportunity to recognise those who make the game what it is today.
“Without this month’s winners, football simply would not be in the position it is, each of these winners has made an outstanding contribution to their clubs and deserve to be recognised,” Hicks said.
“Community Football relies on a collective effort and these awards reflect the appreciation extended to everyone who plays a role in progressing our game.
“I am pleased we are able to thank and acknowledge each of them on behalf of the sport, thanks to the support of our major sponsor, Newcastle Permanent.”
Each of the winners was selected from a number of nominations made by club colleagues and observers of the game. Each winner receives unique packs from Official Community Football Partner, Newcastle Permanent to help them in their endeavours.
Newcastle Permanent Lismore Branch Manager Sarah Lane congratulates each of the winners and thanks them for their contribution to the game.
“Newcastle Permanent’s Community Football Awards provide opportunities to recognise volunteers who generously give back to their clubs and communities. It is great to see a local representative being recognised for their ongoing commitment”, Lane said.
From the pool of monthly winners, Football Far North Coast will nominate one winner from each category to represent their Zone for the opportunity to be named “Newcastle Permanent Community Football Winner of the Year” to be announced at NNSWF’s Annual Awards Night in October.

REFEREE OF THE MONTH
Todd Campbell
As a current senior player, Todd recognised that our game need more senior people to become a match official. So, when the opportunity came up to attend a referees course last year Todd decided to step up and be part of the solution, by becoming a match official himself. Todd has been able to bring his football and life experience to the role, as well as his positive and enthusiastic attitude, which has assisted him to progress as a match official this season. Todd recently attended a Level 3 Referee upgrade course that was run by FFNC and he continues to make himself available for games around his playing schedule and personal commitments. We applaud Todd for being one of a small handful of senior players that have taken up the challenge to become a match official and we hope he inspires other senior players to do the same next season. Congratulations to Todd, a worthy recipient of the Newcastle Permanent Referee of the Month award.
VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
Jan Priddle & Russell Priddle
Alstonville FC
Jan and Russell Priddle involvement with Alstonville FC began in 1986 when their first son began to play junior football. Since that time, the couple has been involved in just about every facet of club activity. By 1987 Russell was coaching and attending club meetings and our involvement escalated from that time. Russell’s roles since 1987 include Junior Vice President, President, Junior Registrar from 1993 a position he still holds today, as well as Public Officer for a considerable number of years. He has also been on the Gala Day committee since 1988, Clubhouse building committee and Oceania Cup committee. Jan’s roles – firstly as Gear Steward in 1989, have included Gala Day Organiser from 1989 – 2001, assistant Junior Registrar, Senior Registrar, Secretary since 2008, assistant Gear Steward, Sponsorship and gear convenor and Oceania Cup committee. It is no surprise that Jan and Russell have been bestowed Life Membership at Alstonville FC and no get great joy from watching their grand son play for Villa. The Priddles say that the club’s development and culture has become very important to them. “We hope to help guide these young, enthusiastic people on our committee and recruit more special people until we are no longer needed”, Jan says. “Villa will however always have our support”, Russell adds with conviction.

Alstonville FC
Stewart’s commitment to Alstonville FC is simply extraordinary. He coaches five ALDI miniroos teams in addition to his roles more broadly to support development programs at the club. As if the time spent with coaching kids is not enough, this energetic volunteer is also the club’s ALDI Miniroos registrar.
