Wet Weather Update

May 7th, 2025

While it was anticipated that 8000 players and more than 600 teams would be in action this weekend, the lingering adverse weather, has torpedoed all but a small number of matches from proceeding.

Football was played despite the threat of heavy skies to north and south of Koala Beach, Pottsville and on fields that are very soft but playable. Hepburn Park also played host to some MiniRoos fixtures with nearly 50 teams getting to take to the field.

In the Men’s Premier League, the Goonellabah v Maclean match was moved to Wherrett Park, Maclean yesterday to find a dry pitch after the Hornets home base at Weston Park was again deemed unplayable. Head Coach Paul Foster will be upbeat after his charges were able to return home after the road trip (that was only locked in Friday), having banked an important 3 points.

Football Far North Coast now has 200 competition fixtures to reschedule and some teams are yet to get on the field of play despite season 2025 being four rounds in for most players.

FFNC general manager Steve Mackney urges everyone to be patient, as football will return (as it always does) at the first opportunity.
