Annual Champion of Champions locked in for 2019

May 3rd, 2019

With the football season kicking off for 2019, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is pleased to announce the annual Champion of Champions tournament will be held again this year at the conclusion of the Community Football season.

NNSWF aspires to develop the Champion of Champions tournament into one of the most significant tournaments on the footballing calendar. This season’s tournament is scheduled from Sunday 6th to Sunday 13th October during the school holidays at the Coffs Harbour C.ex International Stadium.

Leading teams competing in the 12 to 16 Years Boys and 12, 14 and 16 Years Girls competitions will represent their respective Member Zones and compete for the coveted title of NNSWF Champion of Champions. After a successful inaugural year in 2018 with 26 teams participating, NNSWF is anticipating that this year’s tournament will be bigger and better.

“After a successful inaugural year, we are excited to provide our players with further opportunities and incentives to play in the world game,” NNSWF Head of Football Development Peter Haynes said.

“The tournament also provides Northern NSW Football’s Player Development team with another valuable opportunity to identify talented young players.”

As per last year, NNSWF will continue to cover costs for entry team fees with the only responsible costs for teams being travel, accommodation and meals.

NNSWF will also conduct a Talented Official Program camp (TOP) in conjunction with the event, which provides Member Zones with an opportunity to nominate two talented match officials to attend a three-day development camp.

The Champion of Champions concept has been hugely successful in Football NSW (Southern) for many years and with the continued growth of the game throughout Northern NSW, and the ever-increasing popularity among girls, it has prompted NNSWF to provide opportunities for youth teams to compete against clubs from other Member Zones.
