Wednesday afternoon saw the end of the 2016 Boys Under 12 and Under 13 Telstra Identification Camp, for Country Northern New South Wales (NNSW) players held at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility in Speers Point.
The best players from the U12 and U13 age groups completed a 3 day camp which saw them undergo training sessions, small sided games with their Emerging Jets counterparts and a battery of testing conducted by Newcastle University staff covering different areas including decision making , anthropometrical assessments and physical testing.
The camp was the first step in the selection process for NNSW country teams who will compete in National Championships and other events starting in October 2016.
Northern NSW Football’s Technical Director, Michael Browne, was overall pleased about the organisation of the camp as well as the attendance of players.
“It was an excellent camp and the attitude and commitment shown by the players was first class, in quite difficult conditions given the warm weather,” he said.
“We now have a very good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the players and the zone Technical Director’s will be in a position to develop these youngsters further in the forthcoming season,” Browne concluded.
