MiniRoos for Girls Leagues taking north coast by storm

May 27th, 2022

The first inter-club under-6s and 7s MiniRoos for Girls Leagues in the Coffs Harbour region have kicked off and are taking the north coast by storm.

The inaugural MiniRoos for Girls Leagues kicked off last month with North Coast Football clubs Coffs Coast Tigers, Woolgoolga United, Coffs City United and Corindi Red Rock SC taking part.

The clubs have entered teams in under-6s and 7s MiniRoos for Girls multi-club competitions with matches played alongside MiniRoos fixtures at all clubs.

NNSWF have worked closely with Coffs Coast Tigers in particular on the initiative, with the club instigating the league and facilitating discussions with surrounding clubs.

NNSWF Female Participation & Inclusion Officer Annelise Rosnell said six teams were competing in 2022 with potential to grow in coming years, not just on the north coast but across northern NSW.

“It’s fantastic to see the opportunity for all-girls football presented to those entering the game at a young age,” Rosnell said.

“It’s important that we offer these opportunities to participate and allow girls to come into football in a way that suits their needs.

“A massive thank you to the clubs and volunteers who have supported this initiative. It’s so important to offer these opportunities and a credit to all involved that it exists.”

Rosnell plans to visit a match day at Coffs Harbour next month.

Any clubs or member zones interested in bringing MiniRoos for Girls Leagues to their area are encouraged to get in touch with NNSWF Female Participation & Inclusion Officer Annelise Rosnell here.
