Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) thanks its 8,000 dedicated, hard-working volunteers that make playing football in our region possible.
National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration which acknowledges the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers. In 2020 the theme is “Changing Communities. Changing Lives.”
Northern NSW Football CEO David Eland said it was usually this time each year that we thank our volunteers for all the work they do on the park. However, 2020 really highlighted the work that is done behind the scenes.
“While not much, and in some cases no football has been played for 2020, club volunteers have continued to work tirelessly with their Member Zones and Northern NSW Football in readiness for when the game can be played,” Eland said.
“Our Club volunteers have been essential during this time.
“They’ve come together to spread safety messaging far and wide, undertaken countless assessments of venues and finances, worked with local councils and sponsors as well as provided essential input in the return to football.
“Volunteers are the heart and soul of football and will be the people who continue to dedicate their time, passion and efforts in making football go forth when the go ahead is received by NSW Office of Support.”
Eland said there were more than 8,000 volunteers across northern NSW who are the lifeblood of the game and we hope to see many more pitch-in when the time comes.
“When we return to training and match days, it will look different to what we are used to, but the comradery of the volunteer army that keep football going will still be there,” he said.
“I encourage all players and parents to touch base with their club, to see how they can help out for the season – small contributions add up to jobs well done.
“Thank you to all our volunteers for everything you do. We can’t wait to see you all when football returns.”
