NNSWF conducts 2022 Women’s State Cup draw

June 16th, 2022

Northern NSW Football conducted its 2022 Women’s State Cup draw on Thursday night.

The draw was broadcast live on NNSWF’s social media channels and hosted by Jade Campbell and Ainsley Childs.

Campbell is part of the inaugural NNSWF Indigenous Women’s team, while Childs was part of the Maitland FC team that won the cup last season.

The defending champions were drawn in group D alongside New Lambton FC, Port Macquarie United, Maitland JFC and University of Newcastle Women’s.

The NNSWF Indigenous Women’s Team were drawn into group B alongside NPL Women’s NNSW sides Charlestown Azzurri and Newcastle Olympic as well as fellow community clubs Kempsey Saints and Lochinvar Rovers.

The Women’s State Cup will return next month with the best NNSWF Premier and Community teams converging on the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility for the chance to be crowned state champions.

A record 21 teams will take part in the three-day tournament to be held from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 July. It will also be the first time NPL Women’s NNSW clubs will take part in the tournament, with the NPLW NNSW competition starting this year.

A NNSWF Indigenous team will also enter the competition for the first time made up of Indigenous players and coaches aged 15-years and over from throughout northern NSW.

The full fixture list will be announced next week.
