James Rankine has been appointed Technical Advisor – Far North Coast in a partnership between Football Far North Coast and Northern NSW Football to assist identify and monitor players and their progress within the talented player pathway in the local region.

James will work with clubs to assist and monitor the progress of players through the club Skill Acquisition Program (SAP), including at training sessions, matches and SAP gala days.

His move north to Goonellabah from Penrith, was a lifestyle choice however he was hopeful to still be involved in football.

“I love working in the community and female football development space and am particularly enthused about the SAP here in northern NSW.

“The model used provides more accessibility to talented players, allowing them to play club football and be involved in the extra training sessions.

“It also means everyone has an opportunity, so the best players have the opportunity, not just the ‘best who can afford it.’

Northern NSW Football Head of Football Development, Peter Haynes said it is great to have James on board.

“Northern NSW Football is committed to improving the experience for talented football players in the region and appointing someone as qualified as James in the position of Technical Advisor is key in achieving this,” said Haynes.

James is passionate in not only inspiring young people to improve their football playing ability, however, how to take those lessons and apply them to life.

“It is important to me that adults and leaders in football understand to not overcomplicate things, to demonstrate how easy it is to set up fun, safe, organised training sessions,” concluded Rankine.
