Northern NSW Football has released the first official Online MiniRoos Certificate coaching course to assist new coaches of young players.
Endorsed by National Body, Football Federation Australia (FFA), the Online MiniRoos Certificate helps new coaches learn the basics of coaching and how to provide a positive learning environment for young players aged 5-8 years (MiniRoos), regardless of where they live or their time commitments.
Northern NSW Football, Head of Football Development Peter Haynes said he is thrilled to see education and training becoming more accessible to participants, particularly coaches new to football.
“Previously this introductory course was only available in a face-to-face format, online delivery of this course will ensure more flexibility allowing coaches to engage in education on their own terms free-of-charge.
“Northern NSW Football is committed to improving the quality of coaching and capacity of clubs to better the experience for participants.
“I hope all new coaches and parents connected to MiniRoos teams take the time to explore the course, as coaching at the entry level of our game and making it an enjoyable experience is essential to retaining players,” said Haynes.
Football Federation Australia’s National Coach Development Educator, Anthony Frost agrees accessibility and flexibility is key for better coaching.
“Offering more flexible and accessible coach development opportunities like the Online MiniRoos Certificate being delivered by Northern NSW Football is a great example of how FFA and State Member Federations are committed to innovate and improve despite the current challenges that exist due to COVID-19.
“Selected projects across the country, such as this one, are being piloted to determine the impact each has on their football landscape.
“We hope that after gathering this information it will start to better shape how and what we deliver through our coach development framework in the future said Frost.
The MiniRoos Certificate is available FREE online at www.northernnswfootball/coach-hq and is suitable for anyone coaching or considering coaching children 5-8 years of age.
