We’re delighted and honoured to announce that Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) has won a Her Sport Her Way award for Outstanding Organisation. We are committed to making significant contributions to women’s football within Northern NSW and throughout Australia.
NNSWF like to thank Karen Jones, the Office of Sport and Acting Chief Executive of Her Sport Her Way, as well as the staff and judges of the awards. Most importantly we’d like to thank you, our members, whose continued support makes the mission and work of Northern NSW Football possible.
David Eland, CEO of Northern NSW Football said “The recognition from the Office of Sport is greatly appreciated. The increased presence of women and girls throughout our game is reflective of the cooperation of Member Zones, and in particular local clubs who champion participation opportunities for women and girls in their communities.
“I take this opportunity to recognise the expertise and commitment of NNSWF’s Female Participation Officer, Holly Ayton who has worked tirelessly with a myriad of stakeholders to promote and implement opportunities for women and girls to enjoy our great game,”
David stated that “the huge influx of women and girls throughout our game has highlighted an acute need for investment in community football facilities. A recent audit of football facilities in NSW revealed that 82% of football facilities do not have change rooms for female players.
“In response, NNSWF and FNSW will launch a State Infrastructure Strategy in May which will identify and prioritise facility development requirements throughout NSW,” David concludes.
Our organisation is particularly proud of increasing female participants in 2019 to over 16,700 as well as achieving 40% female representation on the NNSWF’s Board of Directors including the first-ever female chair of an FFA Member Federation.
NNSWF has enjoyed sizeable success over recent seasons through it’s research and development. Establishing the National event, Female Football Week, creating the first in football program, Quick Kicks for Junior girls. And, partnering with the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) to co-host the Matildas v Chile game, the most attended stand-alone female football match held in this country.
Over the next four years the NNSWF priority is to continue increasing female participation, advocating for women in the game and further investment in unique programs to engage females in football.
