Thursday 19 August 2021 – extension of stay-at-home restrictions for Regional NSW

Due to ongoing concerns about community transmission, the NSW Government has announced that stay-at-home orders in place for regional NSW will be extended until at least 12.01am on 28 August, in line with existing orders for the Greater Sydney area.

FFNC will consider the way forward, noting however;

  • ALL fixtures that were scheduled for Sunday 22nd August will now NOT proceed this weekend

The nominated updated release from lockdown at 12.01am on Saturday 28th August provides an opportunity for fixtures (including miniroos) to proceed from Saturday 28th August.

FFNC will review the junior competition and senior league scheduling options for the fixtures that were to be played on 22nd August. This may change the schedule of fixtures to see various fixtures played on Saturday 28th August or Sunday 29th August and we will communicate with clubs in due course, in addition to various postings on social media.

Although we remain hopeful that football can return this season, the reality is that we have lost more opportunities to complete the remaining fixtures within a period that was already pushed back one week than initially planned. A focus remains to deliver all finals fixtures, unless that proves unrealistic to do so. There is no immediate plan to further “strip back” the schedule of fixtures, having already had to declare a lot of fixtures in response to the last lockdown situation. FFNC is very aware of the expectations that exist for players (and others), especially junior players, to get back on the pitch. We ask that everyone recognises that the variables in these uncertain times are challenging, but we will do everything reasonable to see football resume again at the earliest time that is permitted to happen.

Stay Safe.
