Summer Football Returns for 2025-26

August 12th, 2025

Summer Football will return across the northern NSW region for 2025-26.

Summer Football provides players and clubs with the opportunity to play their favourite sport during the spring and summer months.

Incorporating a revised format of the game with either a competitive or social playing environment, Summer Football allows for all playing ability levels to take part.

Club Summer Football competitions can run for a maximum of 20 weeks, commencing no earlier than 1 October 2025 and concluding by 28 February 2026.

Northern NSW Football Club Support and Development Officer Brett Hodgekiss believes Summer Football is an evolved way for clubs to keep players involved in the off-season.

“Hosting a Summer Football program is a way progressive football clubs can provide more people with opportunities to play more football,” Hodgekiss said.

“It’s an excellent way for clubs to keep their current players involved while also drawing in new players from the local community. The program can also generate off-season revenue for the club.

“With Australia hosting the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2026, it’s the perfect time to get your club involved and build off the ongoing exposure football has had over the last few years.

“Last year we had more than 30 clubs involved in Summer Football and it would be fantastic to see that number grow even more this year.”
