Summer Football is scheduled to come to a conclusion this Friday night when Round 9 of the Tursa Employment & Training Male and Female competitions are played. The winners for the respective competitions will not be known until the final games are played, showing once again how close the Summer Youth League competitions are each year.
The Female competition sees both Lismore Thistles and Alstonville sitting on 19 points, with these teams meeting this Friday night at Geoff Watt Oval, Alstonville at 6.30pm. A win to either side will secure the title, but a draw would see the trophy return to Thistles, as the Blues are top of the table based on a superior goal difference. Villa are the defending champions and spectators can expect a fantastic contest.
The Male competition is also down to the wire. Defending champions, Byron Bay, are equal on points with South Lismore, but Byron now hold a one goal better goal difference over the Celtics leading into the final round. The Rams meet Tintenbar East Ballina and South Lismore play Goonellabah and although football can be unpredictable, the most likely results from these games would see both teams finish on equal points, meaning that the Male champions would have to be decided by the best goal difference.
Football Far North Coast congratulates all participants in this year’s Summer Youth League and again thank Tursa Employment & Training for their stellar support of Community Football.
