Local female players had an opportunity to meet with two of the Newcastle Jets W-League players at a clinic conducted at Byron Bay on Saturday morning.
Adriana Jones and Cassidy Davis spent several hours with an enthusiastic group of girls aged from 5 to 16 over several hours. The purpose was to give impetus to the growth of female football across Northern NSW and highlight the pathways for talented female players who have a dream to progress in the game.
The event enabled players to try some skills, as well as get a photo and autograph with the female stars of the W-League. Byron Bay FC hosted the activities that attracted players from several local clubs and Northern NSW Female participation officer Nyssa Suchanow, who was also in attendance, said that the number of girls playing is definitely reflective of an increase in female only teams that allow girls to play with their friends in a fun environment.
Player registrations are well underway, with junior team nominations closing on Thursday 10th March for grades 12-16 and team nominations closing Thursday 24th March for Miniroos players (ages 5-11). Enquiries should be directed to your local club (club contact details can be found by clicking here).
