2016 Female Football Week

February 21st, 2016

In 2016 Football Federation Australia (FFA) in conjunction with State Federations will implement an exciting new programme aimed at recognising and promoting the development and participation of Females in our game – Female Football Week.

Since 2012 across Northern NSW, Girls Football Week has been conducted in May each year, with the objective of fostering growth and recognising the contribution of females in football. As a result of this programmes success and similar events in other states, Northern NSW will embrace the National Female Football Week programme and continue to actively engage with the ever increasing number of female participants across our seven Member Zones.

The new National Female Football Week will run from March 8th– 14th coinciding with International Women’s Day. Northern NSW Football will be holding several events during Female Football Week (please see below for more information) and are encouraging local clubs and zones to get involved by holding their own activities.

Female Only MiniRoos Coaching Course (previously grassroots)

The development of female coaches is integral to the continued growth of football and more specifically, female participation. Female Only courses provide an opportunity for teachers, first time coaches, and coaches of players up to 8 years of age to get together, gain insight and make connections with women in similar situations. The course also aims to enhance the development in coaching and the experience of their players.

The three (3) hour course provides the novice coach with the necessary tools to create a fun environment for the players, one in which they can learn to play with the ball and hopefully build a lifelong love of the game.
