Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is pleased to announce the Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month for April 2018 across the zones.
Football enriches character, intelligence, coordination and skill and each season, brave men and women step up to the plate and take on the task of helping our young athletes reach their potential: The Coach.
“Coaches are often the shopfront of our game. Often they are the only interaction our players and their parents have with a club. It is coaches like this month’s who’s commitment ensures that their club is a good place to play and that their players are enjoying a positive football experience,” Community Football Manager, Peter Haynes said.
Each month, one registered coach from each of NNSWF’s seven Member Zones will be awarded the Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Month award.
Each winner will receive a Newcastle Permanent Community Coaching kit consisting of 6 balls, 20 markers, 10 bibs and a whistle, as well as a polo shirt and cap, to assist in fulfilling their roles at their respective club.
At the end of the season, each Zone will nominate one community coach from their pool of winners, to represent their Zone for the opportunity to be named “Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Year” announced at NNSWF annual awards night.
Newcastle Permanent Chief Executive Officer, Terry Millett echoes Haynes sentiments and applauds those who received the award.
“Newcastle Permanent is proud to support community football across Northern NSW and, through our Community Football Awards, to recognise the efforts of a local coach who demonstrates such passion and dedication to developing his team,” Millett said.
The April Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month Award recipients from across each of its seven Member Zones are as follows:
Paul Albertini
Lismore Thistles
Football Far North Coast
Paul Albertini was awarded LIFE MEMBERSHIP with Lismore Thistles SC several years ago recognising his outstanding contribution to the club over 15 years. Albo’s work as a coach was perhaps not acknowledged at that time as much as his overall club efforts and this award aims to highlight Paul’s ongoing enthusiasm in promoting female football at Thistles. The rise and rise of the Lismore Thistles women’s premier team in recent years is closely linked to the work that Albo has done in conjunction with co-coach Harvey Wilson. Albo coaches in a manner that is technically competent, passionate and inspiring. He has worked with many of his current players since they were juniors and he is highly regarded by his players. Despite continuing to spend many hours on general club activities, including brokering significant grants for Thistles, this award reflects how much Paul Albertini does as a community football coach as well.
James Brady

This coach (i think he plays as well) has been with the club for the last three-four years and since joining the saints has been a great inspiration to not only the kids but the club as a whole. He has looked for ways to improve himself to assist the club and the teams he coaches the time he gives to the Game is a credit to the club as this is the inspiration he gets from others from around him and is quite visible on training days.
James is not only there for his team but you quite regularly see him assisting other coaches/parents coach their teams before his own teams coaching, this has to be a credit to him and the club culture this has to be the coach of the month for sure.

Bj is just lovely. He is a wonderful coach who is already trying to teach these children the “proper” skills of soccer. He cares about each child individually and often attends events outside of soccer. He doesn’t pick favourites, didn’t miss a game or training session last season and made each child feel like a superstar.

Tim is a great coach. Taking the extra time to stop and understand my ADHD child. Tim coaches with fairness and great skill. He is a major asset to his club. Our players aspire to be great and time guides his team to be respectful and responsible and most importantly has fun and strive for their personal best.

Mark has coached many junior teams for over a decade at Corindi red rock breakers club, from under 6s small sided mini Roos teams right up to under 16s boys and 3rd division men’s team. He has dedicated and volunteered many many hours to coaching and guiding young football players in our community.

Chris has been nominated as the Club Coach Coordinator for North Companions for 2018. Chris is very proactive in the role. Chris is in regular contact with Coach Education Coordinator Tom Oldaker identifying coaches within the club who need to attend the appropriate coaching courses. Chris has encouraged coaches from North Companions to attend recent Skill Training and ALDI MiniRoos courses in Tamworth.
