Competitions in both the male and female Tursa Employment and Training Summer Youth League for 2016 have passed the halfway mark with only one team remaining undefeated in each of the respective male and female competitions.
Last Friday saw the two top teams in the female competition play each other, with Lismore Thistles recording a resounding 6-0 victory at home against a depleted Bangalow side. In other games, Italo Stars picked up their first win of the competition with a 1-0 victory over Goonellabah. Mullumbimby Brunswick Valley were unlucky not to come away with a point, going down 1-0 against the highly fancied Alstonville outfit. Lismore Richmond Rovers defeated a determined Casino side 1-0 and Lennox Head won 2-1 against a spirited Byron Bay Wildcats team.
In the male competition, Lismore Richmond Rovers have put themselves in a good position to take home the trophy after defeating Casino 5-2 on Friday night. Rovers are now 3 points clear of Alstonville, who lost away to Mullumbimby Brunswick Valley and also three points clear of Byron Bay, who recorded a 2-1 victory at home against Lennox Head. In the remaining two male matches this week, the Italo Stars male team also got their first win of the competition, with a 3-0 victory over Goonellabah and Lismore Thistles drew 1-1 with Bangalow.
The competition continues this week, with the final round scheduled for Friday 2nd December.
