Planning is well underway for what we hope will be a bigger, better (and drier) season of football in 2026.
Registrations for players, team officials, volunteers and match officials will officially open on 1st February 2026, with all registrations to again be completed online via PlayFootball. Save the date, so you get a spot, so you don’t miss out, as football continues to surge across the region.
It is anticipated that the pre-season competitions will again proceed from late February and competition fixtures expected to kick-off in late March. The first weekend of MiniRoos football (for players aged 5-11) is anticipated to start on Saturday 2nd May 2026. Details about the broader domestic schedule (ages 12-senior) will be released later this year.
There is plenty to look forward to next season as Australia will host the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 throughout March (1st – 21st) with several games to be played on the Gold Coast providing an opportunity for people from this area to get to a game. The legacy of the FIFA Women’s World Cup that was co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023, continues to deliver positive impacts for football, with female football particularly going from strength to strength locally, with female participation being 33% of the almost 8000 players in 2025. FFNC is a leader in this space across the NNSWF footprint, with almost 2600 female players participating in one of 44 women’s teams, 38 junior girls teams and 79 girls miniroos teams.
Let’s make 2026 the biggest and the best season ever.
